Dear Red Ribbon Friends,

It's hard to believe that the summer is half over, and even with everyone's busy schedules, fundraising continues to take place.  In June, Club Traxx, Rainbow House, and Time Out all allowed Red Ribbon Friends to use their fine establishments to raise funds for the RRF/Careteam Grant. Please stop by and say "Thank you" for their wonderful support.  Remember every dollar given is greatly appreciated, and we are lucky to have such a supportive community. Because of that support, $1,000 was given to Careteam to go towards the grant. The owners, staff, and entertainers that performed go out of their way to help. We are blessed!

 

 A special "Thank you" to The Carolina Bear Lodge for donating $1,000 to Red Ribbon Friends recently.  Remember, Red Ribbon Friends was selected as one of the local charities that Carolina Bear Lodge chose to receive monies from its annual bear run in early May. How wonderful that our North Carolina neighbors help support such a worthy local cause. Thanks to those local members of the CBL for sharing the RRF mission.

 

There will be a Foam Party on the Time Out patio on Friday, July 29th.  Red Ribbon Friends will be "renting lockers" for $5.  Tim McGhee, RRF president, has asked for a few volunteers to help set up Thursday, July 28th, around 3:00 PM or 7:00 PM depending on the arrival time of the vendor. Please e-mail him if you are able to help on Thursday tim@thetor.biz . Also he needs someone to commit to renting the lockers (a towel and a place to keep customer's good clothes from getting wet) Friday night starting around 11:00 PM.  Again e-mail him tim@thetor.biz  if you would like to take on that task. The Time Out Divas will be performing inside that evening to help with the cause.

 

On Sunday, July 31st, from 6:00 PM until  8:00 PM, Rainbow House will host a Summer Salad Party. Members are asked to bring their favorite salad to share. $5 is the cost to eat. Also, Patrick will be there at 7:00 to host trivia .These monthly "chat and chews" have been a nice opportunity to relax and get to know each other.

 

Careteam's Prevention Department will be having a VOGUE DANCE COMPETITION and HIV Testing Event at Club Traxx on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 9:00 PM until 2:00 AM. There is a $5 competition entry fee for the individuals who wish to compete. The winner will receive the total amount collected from competitors.   The purpose of this event is to help raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and Careteam. Other prizes will be raffled or donated. Careteam's 2011 5K Run & AIDSWALK is Saturday, November 5th, at Plyler Park, N. Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach.  Mark your calendars now.

 

The next Red Ribbon Friends Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, August 14, 2011, at 5:00 PM, at Careteam.
